Avi Goldfarb is the Rotman Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare, and Professor of Marketing at the Rotman School of Management,University of Toronto. Avi is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, Chief Data Scientist at Creative Destruction Lab-Toronto, a Distinguished Fellow at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a research lead at Acceleration Consortium. His research focuses on the economics of digital technology and artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on marketing, healthcare, and platforms. He has published academic articles in economics, marketing, computing, law, management, medicine, physics, political science, public health, and statistics. In 2026, he was elected a Fellow of the INFORMS Society of Marketing Science (ISMS). Previously, he served as a Senior Editor at Marketing Science and his research on online advertising won the ISMS Long Term Impact Award. Avi testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee on competition and privacy in digital advertising, and before the Canadian House of Commons on the AI and Data Act. He co-authored the bestselling books Prediction Machines and Power and Prediction, both on the economics of artificial intelligence. Avi received a B.A. in economics from Queen’s University and a Ph.D. in economics from Northwestern University.
